Bagel House products are always made from scratch with only the finest natural ingredients. Our suppliers deliver the fresh ingredients straight to our facility in Lake Zurich, IL where the dough is mixed daily.

Flour – High Protein Flour (a mixture of Gluten Wheat Flour and Vital Wheat Gluten Flour). Vital Wheat Gluten Flour is 75 to 80% protein. Keeping most of the protein constituents of the wheat and very little of the starch makes Dog House Bagels low in carbohydrates. This is right in line with current dietary recommendations that 60 to 65 percent of daily calories should come from carbohydrates. Gluten is the substance that allows our bagel treats to rise and hold their shape during baking.
Grains are also a great source of fiber, zinc, iron, folic acid, minerals and B-vitamins. And there's more great news about grains – they’re naturally low in fat.

THE TENDER CARING PROCESS
The “bagel former” is a machine that takes carefully weighed pieces of dough and shapes the raw dough into doggie bagels. We shape hundreds of dozens of raw doggie bagels on a typical day.
But we are only halfway there! The “made from scratch” process continues. These newly-formed bagels aren’t ready for baking yet. Next, our bagels are steam bathed to provide even yeast production in order to retain uniformity of the final product.
And the Dog House Bagels are still about 12 - 24 hours away from the oven! They’re kept at an exact temperature overnight in our “hibernation” chamber to mature the dough, and be sure our doggie bagels are ready for the next step.
One more step before the bagel reaches the oven – a quick bath in boiling water. Boiling is very important – it’s what gives the doggie bagels a tightly textured center inside a deep amber, shiny, hard crusty outer shell for dogs to savor.
THE FINAL LOVING STEP
The Doggie Bagels are finally put in a conventional tunnel oven for even baking. At the end of the tunnel emerges a consistently uniform healthy treat with sealed in goodness.
